Paul Kane and French Falls Trails, Quetico Provincial Park
We will hike the Paul Kane Trail starting at the North end of Dawson Campground (at the French Portage Parking Lot by the Log Cabin). We will continue to hike to the French Falls. We will be following the French Portage Trail. This hike into the past traces a portage first established by First Nations and later used by European explorers and fur traders. It was for a short time, the main route for settlement in the Red River area of Manitoba and for further exploration west. This trail is long but has some steep climbs as it leads you to the cascades of the French River. Please bring plenty of fluids and a lunch and wear sturdy hiking boots. An Ontario Provincial Pass or a day pass is required
