DESCRIPTION:We will walk the Sleeping Giant Park and Silver Islet roads in a loop starting at the Middlebrun Bay trailhead. This is an easy 6 km hike on paved roads with flat sections and gentle hills. We will travel in a counterclockwise loop to Silver Islet\, where we will eat lunch at the picnic tables on the Silver Islet Pier. We will return to the trailhead via the Avenue and Camp Bay. The scenery along the shoreline of Lake Superior is spectacular\, with views of the Sleeping Giant\, Pie Island\, Trowbridge Island and Isle Royale. The Avenue passes by the historic Silver Islet General Store and miners’ cabins. This hike is relaxed pace to accommodate slow hikers\, with opportunities for naturalist and historical interpretation. The hike will be limited to 20 participants.
