DESCRIPTION:The outing starts and ends from the parking lot at the gate before the Hydro Generating Station at the start of the Silver Falls hiking trail. We’ll follow the Silver Falls hiking trail to Dog Falls and then continue along the river to the north end. The trail then ascends out of the valley at which point we will return along the ridge trail overlooking the Dog River before descending along the Portage Trail back to the vehicles. SUMMARY:Urban Walk & LRCA Presentation
DESCRIPTION:We will walk to the Neebing River Barrier from the South Site parking lot where the LRCA will review how their trapping program works. It’s a chance to see a live Sea Lamprey\, along with the identification of other fish species that navigate the Neebing River. We will then continue the walk to the Neebing River Diversion Structure to find out how the floodway was designed to prevent flooding in the intercity area. We will then walk back to the South Site. This hike will be limited to 20 participants. \nLevel of Difficulty: Easy\nHiking Distance/Hiking Time: 4-5km/3hrs
